The UIL State Tennis Tournament is this week, and the tournament has never featured more representatives from Frisco ISD.

A total of 12 FISD student-athletes are in the singles and doubles brackets that will be played Thursday and Friday (May 20-21) at tennis complexes in San Antonio. FISD athletes will be following up on a fantastic performance at the 5A Region 2 Tournament, which featured FISD athletes claiming four of the five region titles.

Centennial’s Reika Nagai won the girls region singles title and Lebanon Trail’s Nathan Tserng won the boys region singles title. In doubles, teams from Heritage won both the boys and girls titles -- Liam Selvido and Anish Madgula (boys) and Tamiya Lintz and Saundarya Vedula (girls).

Other FISD state tennis qualifiers are Liberty’s mixed doubles team of Sanjheev Rao and Milla Dopson, Heritage’s Sriya Leesha Gourammagari (girls singles), Frisco’s Mohan Yechuri (boys singles) and Independence’s Sanish Kumar and Sanjaya Kodali (boys doubles).

The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Thursday and the championship matches will be played Friday. Good luck to all the Frisco ISD competitors!
